2020-21 Re-Opening Plans

Since March of 2020, the global pandemic caused by COVID-19 has had arguably the greatest impact in history on the education of children and young people worldwide. The pandemic has caused untold suffering to our fellow global citizens and forced  many into isolation, exacerbating both educational and emotional challenges for students and untold hardships for their families.

School districts in Alameda County have  been providing online instruction since last March. As of October 1, however, public health indicators at the county level have improved to the point where  local health officials are saying we can begin to return elementary schools to in-person instruction.

This page provides resources and guidance on AUSD's re-opening plans for the 2020-21 school year. We will continue to amend it as our plans develop.
