Supplemental Educational Services (SES) are designed to increase academic achievement. The tutoring services available through SES focus on reading, language arts and math. This important support for students takes place before or after school, or on weekends.

Parents are encouraged to ask the following questions of the SES provider before making a selection.

  • How will you meet the academic needs of my child?
  • What are the qualifications of your tutors?
  • How will you group my child during tutoring sessions?
  • How will you measure my child’s progress?
  • When and where do you deliver these services?
  • How often, and for how long, will my child receive SES?

Public School Choice Options:

Public school choice: What right does a parent have to request a transfer to a school that is not in PI?

All parents/guardians of students attending or planning to attend a PI school have the right to request a transfer of their child(ren) to a non-PI district school with district-paid transportation (which in Alameda Unified School District is an AC transit bus pass).  For parents who select this option, the district will provide transportation to the non-PI school for as long as the home school continues to be identified as a PI schoolIf the home school exits PI by making AYP for two consecutive years, the student can remain at the school; however, transportation will no longer be district-paid.  If the demand for choice exceeds funds or space available, priority will be given to lowest achieving, low-income students and then by the date the request was submitted.

Elementary Choices: Bay Farm, Earhart, Edison, Franklin, Haight and Otis.

Middle School Choices: Lincoln Middle, Junior Jets (application required), Bay Farm 21st Century (application required)

Applications for this option must be submitted to Alameda Unified School District's Student Services Office

at 2060 Challenger Drive. Suite 200, Alameda CA. Parents will be notified of the district's final decision.
