In 2013-2014, the state of California changed the way it funded school districts.  The new model, called the Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF), allows districts more freedom in how funds are spent but also requires the development of a Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) that links spending to specific district goals for student achievement.  Districts are now held accountable to the specific ways in which they spend money and how those decisions improve student outcomes.

One key aspect of the LCAP process is the engagement of parents/guardians, employees, and other stakeholders in providing input and feedback. This is facilitated through a number of committees, including the Parent Advisory Committee (PAC), a District Advisory Committee (DAC), an Employee Advisory Committee, School Site Councils, PTAs, and English Learner Advisory Committees.  These groups meet regularly to review and provide input on sections of the LCAP being developed.  AUSD has a strong record of stakeholder engagement in district-level planning and is excited to partner with these committees in shaping the district’s vision and actions for the coming years.
