Emma Hood Pool Temporarily Closed
The pool at Alameda High School is temporarily closed due to damage to the steps. AUSD's Maintenance, Operation, and Facilities Department is arranging to have contractors on site shortly to develop a repair plan, but the pool will be closed throughout the weekend.
Teacher of the Year!
Congratulations to Encinal Jr. & Sr. High School's Kevin Gorham, who has been chosen as the 2017 Teacher of the Year! We deeply appreciate Mr. Gorham's many years of service in AUSD, his commitment to his students, and the many roles he has played at Encinal. We will have more details after this honor is acknowledged at the May 9, 2017 Board of Education meeting.
Special Education Strategic Planning Group

April 21: AEF Salute to Education
Join education leaders and volunteers as they celebrate innovative educational programs in Alameda public schools with wonderful music, fabulous food, and friends! The event will take place at Rhythmix Cultural Center from 6-9 pm. More information is available on the Alameda Education Foundation website.
April 25 Board of Education Meeting
At its next public meeting, the Board of Education will hear presentations on: Haight Elementary School; AUSD's energy conservation progress; Measure I; and the state's new "Dashboard" program for measuring districts' goals and achievements. The meeting will be held at 6:30 pm at City Hall, and the agenda is here.
