    superintendent search

The Board of Education of the Alameda School District is in the process of conducting a Superintendent Search for purposes of hiring the District’s next Superintendent. Eric Andrew and Juan Garza of Leadership Associates, an executive search firm, were selected to advise the Board in this important process.

Leadership Associates has developed an online survey  to collect input from all stakeholders about the desired characteristics of the next superintendent. Please take the time to follow the link below and provide your input. The survey is available here

Please check our Superintendent Search page for ongoing updates and important announcements regarding the superintendent search process.

ausd statement on the new zealand shootings

We join people around the world in expressing our sorrow for the victims, families, and friends of those killed in the shootings in New Zealand, and we extend our sincere support to the Muslim families in our own community.

As a school district, we denounce such hateful actions and pledge to continue our efforts to teach students the ways of peace, acceptance, and healing. We encourage our families to review the resources on talking to students about hate crimes that we provide on our Tools for Family Conversations page and our Anti-Bias Curricula page.

    About AUSD

Serving Alameda children since 1855, the Alameda Unified School District’s mission is to effectively use our limited resources to ensure that every child succeeds. We believe that our diverse community of students, given a rigorous academic program in an inclusive, safe and secure environment, will be prepared to be responsible citizens.

The district, which serves about 9500 students, has a wide range of school offerings, including a preschool, nine elementary schools, four middle schools, two comprehensive high schools, a continuation high school, an Early College High School, and an adult school. Approximately 18% of students are English language learners, reflecting the richness of cultures represented in our island city.

We are very proud of the high quality education our staff provides. U.S. News and World Report  has recognized Alameda and Encinal High Schools as two of the top 1500 high schools in the nation. Our schools have also received gold, blue, and green ribbon awards from both the California and U.S. Departments of Education, and our graduates go on to a wide range of colleges and universities, as well as apprenticeships and jobs.
